The Guinness Book of World Records for the solo play, Dr.Purushottam Laxman Deshpande is a multi-faceted Marathi writer, playwright and best known actor.

He was born on December 5, 1943 . He was the head of the Department of Drama at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University. Despite the unfavorable conditions at home, he pursued his MA and then MD (Dramatic).

He also had to enter the Guinness Book of World Records in 2004 for his monologue “Varhad Nighalaya London” . He performed the first play of this play in the year. Was done in 1979. Since then, he has held the record of performing more than 1,960 experiments of the play, to his credit.

In this three-hour solo experiment, he presented 52 roles. So he came to be known as a great actor. In 2000, he voluntarily retired from Aurangabad University.

He presided over the All India Natya Sammelan in 2000.

The actor, who gave his life for the play, merged with God’s happiness department on February 22, 2009.
