Uday Shankar was born on December 8, 1900 in Udaipur.

Uday Shankar has been instrumental in popularizing Indian dance in the West. He added this style of dance to his own dance style. While in Paris, he studied the dance culture of the East. He saw many dance programs there.

He also performed independent dance programs with his disciple Madam Simki. He actually came up with the idea of using a completely new orchestral type in Indian art culture. When he returned to India from Paris, he began to awaken art in India. Increased his obsession.

In 1938, he set up the “India Culture Center” at Almora. His main objective was to teach Indians the classical dance form .

Labor and Missionary, The Hridam of Life. He always tried to show innovation in his dance program. But it did not hurt our traditional Indian culture. He tried his hand at modernization in traditional dance and took special efforts for it. That was his goal.

He was honored with the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1959 for his incomparable work.
